Project So Much More started with a second chance. I was always aware of the issues surrounding mental health–as it ran in my family. Growing up, many loved ones suffered in front of my eyes with suicidal ideation, but what impacted me most was that there were even more who suffered in silence.
During my senior year of high school, I almost lost my life to suicide; but I was given a second chance. I had been made to feel guilty, weak, and that this attempt defined me. But through my love of the arts, I learned that I was so much more than those things. From then on, I owed my life to suicide awareness and prevention. I started PSMM as a platform at my school and started opening the long-overdue conversation about suicide.
I hope that one day, there will no longer be a need for the organization; but until that day–Project So Much More aims to use the arts to prove to everyone that we are all So Much More!
